New Dawn New Day works with women and their families, inspiring them to reach their potential and to overcome disadvantage and inequality in their lives and communities.
Here for Women
We are here to improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls, particularly those who face severe and multiple disadvantage or who are victims and survivors of abuse and trauma.
Established in 1987, NDND has worked with vulnerable and socially excluded women and girls in Leicestershire for 28 years. Since 2010 we have focused our work on supporting those women and girls who present with multiple needs and exclusions.
The women we work with typically present with needs relating to offending, homelessness, poverty and debt, relationships, parenting and child support, mental health, substance misuse, domestic and sexual violence, history of neglect and involvement in social care and sex working. We offer specialist services to women affected by trauma as a result of domestic and sexual violence as well as childhood abuse and neglect and many of the women we work with are involved in the criminal justice system or are considered at risk of offending.
Taking a person-centred, holistic approach, interventions include
Outreach and engagement
One-to-one “key-worker” support, Woman-centred assessment and planning, advice and advocacy
Supported and co-ordinated referral for specialist services
Counselling and psychotherapy
Practical and therapeutic group programmes
Education and support into volunteering and employment
Health and wellbeing promotion
We work with over 300 women a year. Over 80% of the women we work with make good progress in over 80% of their identified needs / pathways. For criminal justice involved women our reoffending rate is less than 3%.
